I've been writing since I could hold a pencil. My early works involved mostly fan fic graphic novels about My Little Ponies and Voltron - and sometimes a mashup of both. Having realized early on that my passion for illustration outweighed my talent, I've dedicated the free space in my brain to creating universes and story lines for my own enjoyment.
In his book On Writing, Stephen King recounted advice he'd received from one of his first editors: write your story first with the door closed. Then, write it with the door open. In other words, write for yourself first, then write for anyone willing to read it.
I think I'm ready to start writing with the door open.
